About the Competition

The Miss Universe® Singapore pageant has nurtured many fiercely intelligent and beautiful ambassadors of Singapore in the last 50 years. While the pageant has evolved over the years, at its core, it remains true to the goal of seeking a role model to champion the ideals and attributes of the modern independent Singaporean woman, who is ambitious and has a steadfast view of her ability to contribute to and make a positive impact on her community.

For the young woman who is granted the opportunity to wear the Miss Universe® Singapore crown, the year will be transformational on every level. During Miss Universe® Singapore’s reign she will have the honor to fly the Singapore flag high and proudly represent the nation at the Miss Universe® pageant. She will be involved in promotional work and celebrity appearances, she will travel locally and abroad and will meet a wide spectrum of people, ranging from dignitaries and celebrities, the privileged, the underprivileged, the sick and the needy. She, therefore, needs to be a well-spoken and outstanding role-model with the ability to embody a positive attitude and respectful behavior.

This life-changing experience provides a platform for the winner whether it is in the entertainment industry or otherwise given the diversity of people and experiences the winner will be exposed to. The world is their oyster and many former titleholders of the Miss Universe® Singapore crown have achieved phenomenal success in their lives following their reign.

Miss Universe Singapore Organisation B.V. who holds the license for Miss Universe® Singapore will be collaborating with The New Paper this year, and together are committed to the empowerment of women in Singapore by ensuring that contestants are provided with exceptional training, preparation and grooming and by assuring a fair and transparent judging process which results in the selection of an ideal winner whom we believe will represent Singapore on a global stage with dignity, charm and a quiet confidence that is reflective of the beauty of the women and people of Singapore.

Organiser

Miss Universe Singapore is organised by The New Paper and the Miss Universe Singapore Organisation B.V

Launched in 1988, The New Paper has pioneered a style of journalism in Singapore that goes for sharp news angles. It puts a human face to Singapore stories and complicated issues of the day. The New Paper is the second most-read English newspaper in Singapore after The Straits Times, with a huge following for its sports pages that provide strong sports coverage, especially in soccer news. The New Paper is also pioneering a different form of tabloid journalism by presenting complex issues in an easy-to-read, pop style for young and busy readers. It catches readers’ eyes with bold and colorful designs, exciting layouts and punch headlines. Now a big part of the Singapore scene, The New Paper strolled into the Guinness Book of World Records in 2000, when its annual mass-fitness event, The New Paper Big Walk, was recognized as the largest walk in the world.
The Miss Singapore Organisation holds the license for Miss Universe Singapore and was conceptualized to provide a platform for young, ambitious Singaporean women to represent their nation on the international stage, that is Miss Universe. The Organisation draws from the strength of Singaporean designers, trainers and coaches to showcase the best of what Singapore can offer and to produce a true queen who wears the Miss Universe Singapore crown not just as another pretty face but a role model for young women and an ambassador for Singapore on the international stage.
